Engine and Transmission

The 2020 Ford Ranger comes standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine with automatic start-stop technology. This turbocharged engine is engineered to deliver the same performance as larger engines with much less fuel consumption. As a result, the Ranger gets 21 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

Each trim also comes standard with an automatic 10-speed transmission. The transmission’s integrated tow/haul mode makes it easy to move cargo without compromising performance. All three Ranger trims also feature a standard 4×2 drivetrain with a 4×4 option.

Towing and Hauling Capacity

When equipped with the Trailer Tow Package, the Ranger is designed to tow up to 7,500 lbs. With a 4×2 SuperCab, the Ranger can handle a payload up to 1,860 lbs., earning it a best-in-class rating for its powerful capacity.

Exterior Design

No matter which trim you choose, the exterior comes in a half-dozen color options. Choose from cool Magnetic or Iconic Silver or opt for a bold Race Red or Lightning Blue.

Depending on the trim level, the 2020 model comes with a black or body-color bumper and a black or chrome grille. You can also choose from standard 16-inch silver steel, 17-inch silver-painted aluminum, or 18-inch chrome-like PVD wheels.

Interior Design

All 2020 Ranger models seat five comfortably. Since each model is an extended cab with either SuperCab or SuperCrew configuration, every trim level features four doors and passenger grab handles. That means entering and exiting the cab is a breeze, even for backseat passengers.

Inside, the cab features color-coordinated carpeting and cloth bucket seats. The driver’s seat boasts either a four-way manual or an eight-way power seat, and front seats come heated on some models.

Entertainment and Navigation

With the Ranger’s built-in entertainment and navigation features, you’ll have everything you need at your fingertips. The 2020 model comes standard with at least a 2.3-inch productivity screen and a six-speaker audio system.

Each model is equipped with FordPass Connect and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot to keep you connected. Every Ranger also has 911 Assist to keep you safe, and some have optional navigation features to help you stay on track.

Safety Features and Technology

The 2020 Ranger has a wide range of standard features from the automaker’s signature Ford Co-Pilot360 safety system. Every model comes standard with Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, which produces audible alerts and pre-charges the brakes when it detects an impending collision.

The Ford Co-Pilot360 system also includes Curve Control to help you handle challenging roads with ease and a rear view camera to help you back up safely. The 2020 Ranger even comes standard with the SOS Post-Crash Alert System, which switches on in the event of an accident.

Most Ranger models also have safety options like automatic high beams and lane-keeping system. Some also have signature safety technology like the Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Monitoring, which makes lane changes easier.
