Top 5 Features of the Upcoming Ford Bronco

August 29th, 2020 by

Ford Motor Company rolled out the first Bronco in 1965. During its first run, it went through five different generations of designs that delivered the wild spirit and off-roading capabilities that the Bronco is known for. From its start as as compact SUV through the almost 20 years it spent as a full-size SUV, the Bronco was a powerhouse on the market. However, in 1996, the production of the Bronco stopped.

Twenty-five years later, Ford is excited to introduce the 2021 Ford Bronco that captures the designs from the past while updating the vehicle to deliver high-tech systems and features. Here are the top five features of the upcoming Ford Bronco.

Versatile Exterior

The 2021 Ford Bronco is designed to give you the versatility to create a vehicle unique to your tastes and interests. There are seven trim levels for you to choose from that highlight a different type of adventure and come with a unique emblem specific to that trim. The trim options are the Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, and First Edition.

Once you pick a trim, you can further customize the vehicle with your choice of five different equipment packages: the Standard, Mid, High, Lux, and Sasquatch packages. Be sure to check out the available options to see which trim package is best for you.

Drivers have the choice between a two-door and four-door model. Both models allow you to remove the roof and doors easily and store them in the back of the cargo area for convenient storage. In addition to the Ford Bronco, drivers also have the option of the Ford Bronco Sport, which gives you a more car-based crossover design with a balance between city and off-road driving.

The Ford Bronco comes with an array of different colors to choose from for your exterior. If you want some bold colors, you can select Cyber Orange, Anti-matter Blue, Rapid Red, or Race Red. For drivers who prefer more subdued colors, you can choose between Shadow Black, Iconic Silver, Area 51, Carbonized Gray, Cactus Gray, and Oxford White.

Powerful Off-Road Experience

True to its reputation, the Ford Bronco is designed for extreme off-road performance. There are two engine choices that both deliver excellent horsepower and torque to ensure you can conquer any terrain you encounter. The first is a 2.3-liter Ecoboost engine, which gets 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Drivers have the choice between a 10-speed automatic transmission and a seven-speed manual transmission with a crawler gear. The second engine is a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine that delivers even more power with 310 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.

There are two four-wheel-drive systems available on the Bronco. The first is a part-time selectable engagement system that uses a two-speed transfer case as an electronic shift-on-the-fly, making the system “part-time.” There are three modes, plus a neutral setting on the system. When in 4H and 4L, the system automatically locks into 4×4.

The second system is an advanced 4×4 with automatic on-demand engagement. The system features a two-speed electromechanical transfer case that has an auto mode, which allows for on-demand engagement that jumps between 2H and 4H. Using the 4A mode, the system varies power between the front wheels to ensure optimum performance.

Terrain Management Systems

To help you on more challenging terrain, a terrain management system with G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Terrain) mode allows you to drive where you want, when you want. Standard modes include Sand, Slippery, Sport, Eco, and Normal. Two additional modes are available on the Badlands trim: Mud/Ruts and Rock Crawl. The Sport mode is substituted for a Baja mode on the Badlands trim.

An optional feature that is available is trail control. This feature is driver-activated cruise control that you can get on vehicles with an automatic transmission. The system allows you to navigate easily over rough terrain by maintaining a constant speed and managing braking and throttle at individual wheels. Another available system is trail turn assist, which reduces the turning radius when you are driving at a low speed in off-road environments.

High-Tech Interior

Like the rest of the Bronco, the interior is equipped with technology that ensures high performance and easy access to its features. The original Ford Bronco inspires the design of the new interior with instrument gauges that are intuitive and visible. There is plenty of room inside, with space for five passengers and 60/40 split-fold seats that fold down for extra cargo space. In addition to lots of room, the tailgate has a slide-out rear tray that makes it easy to stack gear or sit on the tailgate. There is also a convenient bottle opener in the tailgate area to help you crack open a refreshing drink.

The infotainment system that is available for the Bronco is a 12-inch touch screen that is compatible with apps like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Drivers can also choose to use FordPass Performance App with Off-road Navigation, which gives you access to over 1,000 maps with the bonus that you don’t need the internet to access them.

Safety Features

When heading off-road, it’s essential to have safety features that support you while you are driving. The Bronco has the option of a variety of different safety systems included with their Ford Co-Pilot360 technology, including pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, a blind spot information system with cross-traffic alert, a lane-keeping system, and auto high beams. Additional features that you will find include evasive steering assist, a reverse sensing system, and a rearview camera with backup assist grid lines.

There are lots of features to be excited about with the new 2021 Ford Bronco. The vehicle has many options that allow you to design a vehicle that fits your exact needs and tastes.
